Who We Are

Advances in Bereavement is a philanthropic program of the Brandenburg Maas Life Transition Center, established in 2009 as a privately funded and mission-driven organization to support projects, initiatives, and research that address personal transition periods and life altering pathways in the areas of health, loss, careers, and relationships.

Advances In Hospice

In a few months, we will be launching a new online magazine called Advances in Hospice to join our already successful Advances in Bereavement e-zine.  Advances in Hospice will also be provided free to all hospice personnel who wish to receive it.  The magazine will carry articles focusing on administrative issues, marketing techniques, end-of-life issues, medical advances, and social work and spiritual issues.  The heart of each publication will be a feature called "Hospice Heroes", telling the story of the spirit and accomplishments of hospice volunteers.

At this time, we are issuing a call for articles in any of these areas for future publication, if accepted.  Because we are providing this e-zine service for free, we will be unable to pay for these articles.  This is, however, an opportunity for you to put your hospice on the editorial map as we highlight your hospice throughout the nation in the issue in which your article is printed.

If you wish to take advantage of this unique opportunity, e-mail questions, articles of 1000 to 1500 words or volunteer profiles to the editor, Andrea Heeres, at   If you have pictures that you would like to published with the article, send them along as well with, of course, the proper releases from the subjects of the pictures.

We will not be able to make this your magazine without your input.  We are looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Andrea Heeres, Editor
